Martyr Ayatollah Morteza Motahari was an esteemed Iranian Shia cleric, a renowned professor of Islamic philosophy and theology, an exegete of the Holy Qur'an, and an accomplished orator. Born in 1919, he served as a professor at the Faculty of Theology at Tehran University before the Islamic Revolution. Motahari played a vital and influential role in the movements that culminated in the triumph of the Islamic Revolution. He was tragically assassinated in 1979, a few months following the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
